Fort Lauderdale Water Sports

What distinguishes Fort Lauderdale’s beaches from every other in the United States: the water here is warm; even in the winter, ocean temperatures far exceed those at the peak of summer in many other beaches.

That differential makes Fort Lauderdale water sports a real pleasure; and luckily, our sun-kissed Florida beach is just a few steps away from our Fort Lauderdale resort. Our concierge staff can help you rent equipment for whatever sport you wish to try.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida Scuba Diving

If you’ve never tried scuba diving, now is your chance to learn. Our concierge can get you in touch with the most convenient classes in the area so that you can dive right into our pristine setting.

If you’re already an experienced diver, you’ll be delighted to find that the turquoise waters of Fort Lauderdale boast some of the best scuba diving in North America.

Reef and wreck diving are available just a mile off shore. The area is not only home to 23 miles of golden sand beaches but also to an array of dive sites and marine life. From Deerfield Beach in the north to Hallandale Beach in the south, a unique natural three-tiered reef system begins in 20 feet of water just 100 yards from shore at its closest point. Even better, more than 75 artificial reefs have been placed on the ocean’s floor over the past 20 years as magnets for fish and reef life. Beginning at depths of 30 feet, there are more than 100 dive sites with permanent mooring buoys to reduce anchor damage.

We recommend Pro Dive International. For more information about Pro Dive, call them toll-free at 800-PRO-DIVE or local at 954-PRO-DIVE.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida Sport Fishing

For those who enjoy the sport, the waters off Fort Lauderdale offer some of the most compelling fishing to be found. Deep-sea fishing, and warm water fishing in particular, is a completely different animal from what one finds in other parts of the country. As one local expert puts it, this kind of fishing offers “a beautiful fight” and an unforgettable experience.

Many local companies provide professional guided fishing charters where you can experience the excitement of catching the fish of a lifetime. Anglers of all experience levels can fish for sailfish, swordfish, mahi-mahi, wahoo, red and yellow snapper, grouper, barracuda, and much more.

We work with Captain JB Sirgany at FoxSea Charters. For more information, you can reach FoxSea Charters at 954-822-5848.
